Today i decided to dedicate a post to one of the most controversial clothing items: THE MOM JEANS. Even if they’ve become very popular last summer and they are still considered trendy…there are a lot of negative points of view about it.
For example if you Google it the URBAN dictionary will tell you that Mom Jeans are :” High waisted jeans with a tapered leg. Nobody looks good in these type of jeans. They make your thighs, hips, and belly look much bigger than they actually are. ” Meanwhile WIKIPEDIA says that: “Mom jeans is a humorously pejorative term for a specific type of fit of women’s jeans, considered to be both unfashionable, and unflattering to the wearer’s figure. This style usually consists of a high waist (rising above the belly button), making the buttocks appear disproportionately longer, larger, and flatter than they otherwise might. It also tends to have excess space in the zipper/crotch and leg areas. The jeans are usually in a solid, light-blue color, with no form of stone washing or fading. Other attributes of the style often seen are pleats, tapered legs, and elastic waistbands. The style is often accompanied by a blouse or shirt that is tucked into the jeans. This style of jeans was popular with women in the United States until the mid-1990s, when lower rise jeans started to become fashionable.”

So apparently INTERNET says a big “NO” to this type of jeans, while nowadays all the trendsetters, bloggers & stylists adore them. Not to mention online shops like: Nasty Gal & brands like Topshop, H&M , River Island etc. that are encouraging this 80’s, vintage item trend.
I’m personally a fan of this jeans. This is not my only pair, i also have one’s that have a “crappier” lighter shade of blue, and they look extremely used & most probably they make my butt look “heart-shaped” , but still I LOVE THEM!
I also have to mention that i have been a fan of this product before being a mom…so my new social status doesn’t interfere with my fashion choices.
I strongly believe that every piece of clothing has a chance to look extraordinary if you style it correctly. For example this highwaisted type of jeans are making my legs look 1 m longer & my mommy belly absolutely invisible ( believe i’ve got some issues with my belly- i’m not absurd it’s not that bad…but it’s still flappy and needs some workout & abs).
So i hope you’ll give a chance to this controversial garment & you’ll include it on your wish list after reading my post.
Don’t forget to get inspired from the 50’s american pin-ups when you’re choosing your pair.

That’s all folks!
Mommy has to breastfeed!:))

Gabi
